It's been a while .... fishy feshuns!

So much has happened! But anyhoo, before we get onto that - it's fashion show time! We are taking part in a fashion show at Elkanah High in Blouberg. We're brining a lot of black and white - glam, punk and vintage amazeballs-ness! I hope my mom remember's to get a ticket!

Swap - say what?

While many people are having swap parties of their own, swap parties are relatively new to the mass market in South Africa. During our swap party adventures, we have come across a whole  host of questions. Here's our lil FAQs that will help and hopefully encourage you to come and of course to tell your friends too.

Q - What the hell is a swap party?
A - Swap parties are events held either at your home or at a venue, where people come bring items they no longer get use out of. Items can range from clothing for men, women, kids and babies to home decor, biscuits and books.

Q. Can I bring things to sell at the party?
A. No, there are other events for that.

Q. What if I don't find anything I like?
A. Our swaps parties include, clothing, accessories, books, cds and dvds - so there'll be a host of things to choose from.

Q. Are the parties not only supposed to be clothing?
A. No, our swaps include a range of things. We see no point in excluding anyone - the more the merrier.

Q. Will the clothing and other items be clean?
A. Yes, everyone is required to bring along gently worn clothing that has been washed and ironed. We also screen everything before it goes on the rails and out on display.

Q. What if two people want the same thing?
A. We go straight to  rock-paper-scissors to sort it out ... so practice!

Q. But what if I bring a designer jacket to the swap and get a t-shirt?
A. Please don't bring super expensive items in hope of getting another expensive item. Bring items along that you are ready to let go of so that someone else can love it as you once did. For accessories, we assign three to four to one token.

First swap party @ Van Hunks in Kloof Street

Our first swap party wil take place at Van Hunks restaurant in Kloof Street on Wednesday 29 February from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Theme: Summer ... was it all a dream? This means you need to bring along items which you can still wear before summer decides to leave us.

Tokens: When you arrive, you'll receive tokens for the items you have brought. You will get time to browse and then later it will all be open to swap. Just hand in your token once you have found what you like.

Items: Bring a mix of things - skirt/dress/top, accessory, hats, scarf, bag. In case someone doesn't find something in their size, they'll have an array of items to choose from.
